A Leitrim IFA official says it's vital the veterinary laboratory in Sligo is kept open.
There are renewed fears for the future of the veterinary laboratory at Dunally following a department report issued before Christmas.
The fears first emerged last Spring with reports that a review of the Department of Agriculture's laboratory services would recommend the closing of three laboratories . . . in Sligo, Kilkenny and Limerick.
Kevin Comiskey is chairman of the Leitrim IFA sheep committee.
He says the issue concerns not just sheep farmers but all farmers.
He says the laboratory performs a variety of functions.
