Sligo/Leitrim on high priority list for refuge for victims of domestic violence

The Sligo Leitrim area is on a high priority list for a refuge for victims of domestic violence.

Currently, there are alternatives in place locally for those who need emergency accommodation however it's thought a refuge would serve those affected better.

Local Independent TD Marian Harkin says while there were some positive changes this year, a lot more needs to be done in 2023 to improve services in the area.

Deputy Harkin says a purpose built centre including dedicated accommodation and staff in the region must top of the Governments agenda next year:
