Sligo Leitrim TD calls for Defence Forces to be provided with pay increases

A Fianna Fail Sligo Leitrim TD has described efforts in recruiting personnel into the Irish Defence Forces similar to filling an empty bucket.

Deputy Marc MacSharry says people in the force have been suffering a cost of living crisis for many years which is now further amplified by the current economic climate.

Speaking in the Dail, Deputy MacSharry asked the Taoiseach when the Government plans to address what he has termed a chronic crisis:
