A Sligo/Leitrim TD is calling for more advanced testing to be made available for Lyme Disease.
Fianna Fail Deputy Eamon Scanlon says more people are being diagnosed with the disease, which can be very painful and debilitating.
He says early detection is crucial.
He says he initially didn't know what Lyme Disease was, only to discover later some of his neighbours were suffering from it.

Diagnosis is made by blood testing but Deputy Scanlon has been telling Ocean FM News the problem that exists at present:
