Sligo/Leitrim TD says homecare sector is facing a crisis

Sligo/Leitrim Sinn Fein TD, Martin Kenny, says there is a crisis in the homecare sector with 208 people in the region waiting for a carer to be assigned to them even though they have been approved.

Almost 5,000 people nationally are waiting for a carer to be allocated.

Deputy Kenny says it's an ongoing problem for years and has called the situation 'unacceptable'

He says the pay structure especially needs to be improved.
