Sligo Leitrim TD says the Taoiseach was not forthright enough during Oval Office meeting

A Sligo Leitrim TD has described the visit of the Taoiseach to the white house yesterday as a missed opportunity to raise the concerns of the Irish People over the ongoing conflicts in Gazza and the Ukraine.

Deputy Martin Kenny acknowledged that Michael Martin was in a difficult position given the last word leader to visit the Oval was the Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The Sinn Fein TD has told OceanFM that he expected the Taoiseach to be more vocal on the current conflicts in Gazza and the Ukraine adding that the Taoiseach should have been more forthright and expressed the concerns that many people in Ireland have with US foreign policy in the war torn regions.

It also emerged during yesterday's meeting with Michael Martin that President Trump had not heard that some Irish political parties had decided to boycott St Patrick's Day celebrations in Washington DC over his administration's stance on Gaza.

This is a claim that the Leitrim based TD finds difficult to believe.
