Both Sligo and Letterkenny University Hospitals feature in a list of most overcrowded hospitals for the month of December.
685 patients went without a bed at Sligo University Hospital this month, in Letterkenny the figure is 834.

Sligo University Hospital has also been ranked as one of the worst overcrowded facilities for 2022 with a total of 8,136 patients waiting for a bed this year – almost double last year’s figure of 4,284.
In a statement, INMO General Secretary Phil Ní Sheaghdha staff said that nurses are unfortunately ending this year how they started it ¬— firefighting intolerable overcrowding coupled with highly transmissible viruses and infections.
