The county Sligo man who died following a road-traffic collision in Vancouver last week has been named locally.
27-year-old Anthony McGwynne, originally from Calry died when the motorbike he was travelling on was struck by a car on Arbutus Street on Thursday night.
The collision happened just before 9.30pm and despite life-saving efforts by bystanders and paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the car was taken to hospital for treatment.
The Department of Foreign Affairs in Ireland is providing consular assistance to Mr McGwynne's family.
