Sligo school gets green light for extension

A school in Sligo Town has been given the green light for a major extension.

St Edward’s NS in Ballytivnan has been granted a 5-classroom extension including 1 mainstream classroom and 4 special education teaching rooms.

The exact funding amount is not being disclosed to allow a competitive tendering process.

In a statement Deputy Frank Feighan said:
“This is a significant investment in the future of St Edward’s to allow the school to accommodate more pupils and children who need more ‘one to one’ teaching.
“This is great news for the School Principal, the Board of Management alongside the pupils and their parents and I want to congratulate the team involved in the application”, stated Deputy Feighan.
“The exact funding amount will be held back to allow a competitive tendering process that I hope can get underway as soon as tender documents are completed.
“At a political level I want to thank Ministers Foley and Naughton for this allocation of funding at this critical time for the school”, concluded Deputy Feighan.
