This year is a very special year in the history of the St Patrick's Day Parade in Sligo town.
The parade next month will mark the 50th anniversary of the start of the event.
Parade Chairman Finbar Filan is asking people who are entering floats to do something special to celebrate the occasion.

Last week, the mayor of Sligo, Cllr Gino O Boyle, hosted an event in the Town Hall that remembered and recognised the efforts of those who started the parade all those years ago.

He also spoke about the legacy left by those who ensured the parade continued through what were some difficult years . . . resulting in it today being the most widely-attended event in Sligo.
