Sligo/Strandhill LEA has the highest local 14-day incidence rates

The Sligo Strandhill Local Electoral has the highest 14-day incidence rates in the local region.    It's also emerged that Household visits and indoor hospitality will be targeted as part of new restrictions to tackle the spread of Covid-19.

 

344 cases were detected in the Sligo Strandhill Local Electoral Area in the period between November 16th and 29th.  The Rate per 100,000 head of population was 1628.1 The R figure for this week was 1316.9.

There were 225 cases detected in the Sligo/Drumcliff Area which represented a rate of 1273, while 196 cases were registered in the Ballymote/Tubbercurry area a rate of 733.2.

The Donegal Local electoral registered 245 new cases a rate of 924.8.

 

 

The Local electoral with the least number of cases and lowest Rate was Manorhamilton 62 cases were detected which resulted in a rate of 573.

 

It’s also being reported this morning that Household visits and indoor hospitality will be targeted as part of new restrictions to tackle the spread of Covid-19.

 

It's understood NPHET has recommended limiting household mixing - allowing one household gather with three others - until mid-February.

 

Opening hour limits and rules around table sittings and multiple bookings at pubs and restaurants are also proposed.

 

There has been a further 4,163 Covid cases, while 545 people are in hospital with the virus, and 117 in ICU.
