Sligo to Dublin train line could be 'a lot faster'

It's thought that the train service between Sligo and Dublin could be a lot faster.

Transport Minister Eamon Ryan is being asked to consider a proposal which would see a new 6km line built from east of Maynooth to west of Adamstown which, it's thought, would provide a quicker route to Sligo.

Cllr Marie Casserly says there are a lot of local people who are frustrated at the length of time it takes to get to the Capital and back.

She believes that if the service was more direct it would encourage more people to use it:
