A Sligo town centre for residential care and support for adults with an intellectual disabilities has received a glowing report from the health watchdog.
Thornvilla Community Group Home on a Knappagh Road is a centre which accommodates male and female residents over the age of 18 years.
HIQA’s unannounced inspection took place in January with the details published today.
The centre is a two-storey detached house set in a residential area of Sligo town and is in close proximity to a number of local amenities.
The residents living in Thornvilla were found to be supported to live rewarding lives where their choices were respected and where they were active participants in their local community.
They were also supported to achieve the best possible health and wellbeing.
One resident spoke with the inspector and told them that they lived in a happy home where the staff were kind, and the food was good.
From the inspector’s observations, the provider ensured that the number and skill-mix of staff was appropriate for the needs of residents.
Where additional staff were required, this was planned for and facilitated.
