Sligo Traveller Support walk to mark world suicide prevention day.

 

Suicide rates are at least seven times higher for Traveller men and six times higher for Traveller women.

To highlight the issue the Sligo Traveller Support Group is organising a walk to the summit of Knocknarea in Sligo in memory of those who have been lost through suicide.

 

The walk will take place this morning (at 10 a.m.) to mark World Suicide Prevention Day.

Suicide rates are at least seven times higher for Traveller men and six times higher for Traveller women.

 

Spokesperson Jamie Murphy is encouraging anyone who has been affected by suicide by take part.
