Sligo University Hospital among highest waiting times for a bed for 2nd consecutive day

For the 2nd day in a row, Sligo University Hospital has the 4th highest number of people waiting on trolleys in the country.

34 people are waiting for a bed in Sligo, an increase of 3 on yesterdays figure, and a further 13 are waiting in Letterkenny University Hospital.

The data comes from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation's Trolley Watch figures.

Former Nurse, Cathoirleach and current Fianna Fail Councillor, Rosaleen O'Grady says the figures are concerning and they will get worse before they get better.

Speaking to OceanFM, Councillor O'Grady says that, ultimately, a new Hospital is needed for the region.
