Sligo University Hospital offering advice on avoiding skin cancer at National Ploughing Championships

The HSE is offering free advice on avoiding skin cancer at the National Ploughing Championships.

Staff from the Dermatology Department at Sligo University Hospital will be at the stand from next Tuesday.

According to statistics from the Irish Cancer Society, 1 in 4 people that die from skin cancer in Ireland are those working in the construction or farming industry.

The ICS has a 'SunSmart Code' that advises people to be in shaded areas between 11am and 3pm, wear long sleeve clothing, sunglasses, a hat and to use a high factor sunscreen.
