Sligo University Hospital Staff urge people to get flu vaccine

Staff at Sligo University Hospital are urging people to get the flu vaccine.

In a new video, Fergal Hickey, Consultant in Emergency Medicine, and Deirdre Staunton, Resuscitation Training Officer have shared their flu experiences aimed at promoting the uptake of the flu vaccine among healthcare workers.

The HSE also says the flu vaccine message is equally important for people who are vulnerable to the complications such as people over 65, those with a chronic illness, those with weakened immune systems and pregnant women.

Dr Anthony Breslin, Department of Public Health Medicine, HSE North West says flu cases are on the rise, with a significant increase in cases of the H1N1 strain, which is very dangerous, especially for at-risk groups.
