It's emerged that a Sligo woman has been turned down for a mortgage despite having the 10% deposit required.
Due to what is being described as 'red tape', the woman in question had to show that 3% of that deposit had come from her own savings.
The woman borrowed the money from her mother because she can't afford to save due to the high rent she's currently paying.
Her case was raised in the Dail by Sinn Fein Sligo Leitrim TD Martin Kenny who says these terms and conditions must be reviewed as a matter of urgency:
