Slow but steady voter turnout in north west

Polling booths for the General Election across the north west have seen a slow but steady stream of voters since they opened at 7am this morning.

 

People are having their say on who will be elected from the Sligo-Leitrim and south Donegal and Donegal constituencies and who will represent them in Dáil Éireann.

A snapshot of how things are going in Leitrim include a 20% in Manorhamilton, 18% in Diffreen NS, 16.5% in Kinlough, 13% in Carrick-on-Shannon and 12% in Drumshanbo and Ballinamore.

 

In Sligo, 30% in Ballymote, 25% is reported in Rathcormac, 18% in Grange, 17% in Strandhill, 13% in both Ballymote and Tubbercurry, 12% in Scoil Ursula in Sligo town.

While the turnout is reportedly quite high in Bundoran booth one (20%), booth two (15%), booth three (13%) and 18% in booth four.

 

10% average is being reported in Ballyshannon and Ballintra.

 

Most areas in the Donegal constituency are reporting between 8 and 10% voter turnout.

 

Polling stations are open until 10pm tonight.
