It's been claimed that some students in the North West are being discriminated against.

 

The Government has introduced a 50% fare reduction in the Leap Card Scheme and caters to students from the likes of Donegal travelling to Sligo or Galway for college and vice versa.

However cross border trips are not included as part of the reduction.

 

Speaking in the Dail, Donegal Sinn Fein TD Pearse Doherty says there are many young people in the region who travel to Northern Ireland for third level education.

He believes that in the interest of fairness, the scheme must be extended:
