Speculation 9% VAT on hospitality sector rate will be axed

There is speculation the 9 percent VAT rate on the hospitality sector will be axed by the government.

The industry has lobbied intensively for the retention of the rate which was introduced by the government during the financial crash in 2011 and extended after the first Covid-19 lockdown in 2020.

According to the Irish Daily Mail government sources have indicated the rate would revert to 13.5 percent when the temporary measure lapses at the end of this month.
