A sperm whale has been found washed up on a popular beach in south Donegal.
The discovery was made by locals out walking on 'The Big Beach' at Glencolmcille on Saturday evening.
The deceased mammal is the latest in a number of discoveries made along the north west coast over the last 12 months.
A dead dolphin was reported on Murvagh Beach in December, while a similar animal was reported on Rosses Point beach in Sligo a few months earlier.
A number of people are visiting the site but they have been advised to stay away from the creature.
The Irish Whale and Dolphin Group has been notified of incident.
