Status Orange wind warning issued for north west.

A status Orange wind warning has been issued for the north west.

As storm Gareth approaches, westerly winds are set to get up to speeds of 65 to 75km/h with damaging gusts reaching 110 to 130km/h.

There is also the risk of coastal flooding due to high seas.

Counties Sligo, Leitrim Donegal and Mayo are set to be the worst affected.

The warning comes into effect from 12 noon tomorrow.

Meanwhile a status Yellow rainfall warning has been issued for Connaught.

Rainfall of up to 25 mm can be expected in places.
