A massive clean up operation is continuing across the North West this lunchtime after thousands of trees fell overnight while structural damage was experienced by several buildings.
A car was badly damaged in the Rosses Point area by a fallen tree last night while damage was also caused to the Sligo Southern Hotel and O’Hehirs Bakery in Cleveragh.
Gusts of 140km/h were recorded at Sligo Airport at a stage.
Sligo County Council crews are still working this afternoon to clear debris and fallen trees, while ESB crews are also busy trying to restore power throughout the country.
