Sligo University Hospital has once again featured in the top list of the most overcrowded hospitals in Ireland.
The INMO has today released its figures for the month of November.
A total of 626 people waited for a bed at Sligo University Hospital over the course of last month.
Sligo has been ranked as the fourth most overcrowded hospital in Ireland for September.
The figure does however reflect a decrease when compared to the same period last year, when 804 eople waited for a bed at the facility in November of 2023.
Elsewhere, there’s been a rise in the number of people waiting at Letterkenny, with 401 waiting for a bed there this November, compared with 341 in November of last year.
Nationally, over 10,561 patients have been treated in hospital without a bed this November according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.
The INMO is calling for an immediate end to all recruitment caps and the urgent implementation of the government’s safe staffing framework to help manage the current increase in hospital overcrowding.
