An amendment to the constitution proposed in Friday’s family referendum look set to be resoundingly defeated in the Sligo- Leitrim constituency according to tallies.
Ballot boxes were opened at the Sligo Park Hotel count at 9am this morning.
From early on, indications were that the people of the constituency have voted down the proposed change to the constitution.
According to the tally, a 'no' vote of 72% is showing on the family referendum ballots.
Nationally, count results from constituencies across the country are confirming a comprehensive defeat of the family referendum.
