The Taoiseach says investing in infrastructure is the key measure being undertaken by government to address the slow jobs growth in Sligo.
Analysis of Census 2016 figures by the Western Development Commission shows Sligo has had the lowest employment growth of any county in the past five years.
The matter was raised in the Dail this week by Sligo Leitrim TD Tony McLoughlin.
