The North West Drug and Alcohol Taskforce wants to look at the number of outlets selling alcohol.
It's part of a new five year strategy launched at the end of last week which looks at the harm being done as a result of excessive drinking and drug related issues.
Ireland has the fourth highest rate of drinking in Europe.
Sean O'Connor, Regional Drug and Alcohol Taskforce Co-ordinator in the North West says drinking is a particular concern and is leading to personal health issues.
He says it's also costing the economy.
He says they will look in particular at the number of outlets selling alcohol:
