Teachers hold lunchtime protests at schools and colleges across the Northwest

Teachers held a lunchtime protest at schools and colleges across the Northwest this afternoon.

The action by the Teachers' Union of Ireland (TUI) was in protest at lower pay rates for newly qualified teachers.

The union claims pay inequality in the profession means schools are finding it hard to recruit new teachers.

These teachers on the picket line at St Clare's Comprehensive School in Manorhamilton told Ocean FM says there's now no room for progression for those entering the teaching industry:
