The Model arts centre in Sligo has launched a new series of podcasts and radio plays to celebrate the work of Jack B. Yeats.
The six-episode series, titled Encounters with Jack B Yeats, began this week to mark the 150th Anniversary of the artists birth and is curated by The Model's Artistic Director, Emer McGarry and Writer-Researcher, Lara Byrne.
Episode 1 features rarely heard, rediscovered original audio of Yeats in conversation with curator Thomas MacGreevy.
Upcoming episodes include contemporary responses to Yeats' work by artists Ruth Clinton & Niamh Moriarty, and Seamus Harahan & Owen Kilfeather; as well as theatre practitioner Isabel Claffey; and actors, Peter Broderick, Ultan Burke, Bob Kelly, Ciarán McCauley and Yuji Shimobayashi; and reenacted source material by Yeats’ peer, the writer and activist Dorothy Macardle.
Emer Mc Garry, is The Model's Artistic Director, and she says episode one will give listeners a chance to hear a rare recording with the Artist:
