Those taking part in New Year's Day swims urged to take care

Members of the public around the north west planning to welcome in the New Year with an open water swim are being advised to take care.

Irish Water Safety's Roger Sweeney says the shock of the cold water can be dangerous - and lakes and rivers are even colder than the sea.
