A Sligo Traveller support group says Peter Casey was wrong in deciding over the weekend to remain a candidate in the presidential election.
The businessman stopped campaigning to consider his position after controversial remarks made earlier about Travellers.
He claimed Travellers were not a separate ethnic group, accused them of not paying their fair share of taxes, and said they were basically camping on others' lands.
Jamie Murphy, from the Sligo Traveller Support Group, says it's worrying that a person running for the highest office in the land felt he could make such unacceptable comments.
