Met Éireann's weather warnings continue to wreak havoc across the north west.

 

There are numerous reports of trees and other debris blocking or partially blocking routes.

A tree is completely blocking the R286 Sligo to Dromahair road.

 

Local authorities are actively attending the scene and people are advised not to attempt to remove.

A status orange wind warning will come into effect in Donegal at 2pm and expire at 6pm.

 

The forecaster says Storm Elin will generate gale force west to northwest winds and severe gusts.

 

Motorists are advised to expect disruption and difficult travelling difficulties, with the potential too for wave overtoppping.

 

While counties Sligo and Leitrim are advised to expect strong and gusty west to northwest winds with the potential for wave overtoppping.

 

Met Éireann’s warning came into effect from midnight and will at expire at 12pm.
