Tributes paid to local writer and historian John McTernan

Tributes have been paid to local writer and historian John McTernan who passed away this week.

Mr McTernan was also a former County Librarian in Sligo and was well known in the community and further afield.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Sligo on Saturday at 11:30am

Sligo County Librarian Donal Tinney, has described Mr McTernan as a wonderful man and a walking oracle on the history of Sligo:
