A morning of chaos in the North West and the true extent of damage and destruction caused by Éowyn is yet to be established by local authorities across Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal.

The red weather warning for Sligo and Leitrim has been lifted as of 12 noon but it's still in place for Donegal for an another hour.

Sligo and Leitrim are now in an orange alert - this warning still means severe, damaging and destructive gusts expected throughout the course of the evening.

Jim Molloy, Director of Climate and Infrastructure at Sligo County Council gave this update to ocean FM news:
