Two men have been arrested following a fatal assault in Ballina, Co. Mayo last night.
The incident occurred at 11.45pm last night, after Gardaí discovered a man in his 50s in an apartment with serious injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A man in his late 20s and a man in his 30s have been arrested in connection to the incident, and are currently detained in a Garda station in the North Western region.
An incident room has been set up at Ballina Garda Station, and the services of the State Pathologist have also been requested.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward, particularly anyone with camera footage, including dashcam recordings from road users in the Tone Street area and nearby locations around the time of the incident.
