Two motorists were arrested for driving under the influence following checkpoints by the Leitrim Roads Policing Unit on New Year's Eve.
The first driver, a Novice driver, stopped at a MIT (Mandatory Intoxicant testing) checkpoint following a positive test for Cannabis on a Drug Wipe test.
The 2nd arrest was made a short time after with the second motorist testing positive for alcohol.
Gardai are reminding road users to never drive and be under the influence of alcohol and or drugs.
