Two people dead in overnight crash in Donegal

Two people have died in an overnight crash in Donegal.

The two car collision happened on the N56 at Kilmacrennan at around 11.50pm last night.

The driver a man in his 70s and the passenger, a woman in her 70s were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the second car, a woman aged in her 40s, was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The road remains closed with diversions in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
