Union calls for explanation on wages to Travellers working at a leitrim company

Calls have been made on the Leitrim Development Company to explain why traveller workers were paid less than the minimum wage.

The public services trade union, Forsa, claim that the traveller workers were paid €5 an hour. The national minimum wage is €9.25 per hour.

The employer eventually paid some money back, but it's claimed the traveller workers then had their hours cut.

Ocean FM News is awaiting a response from the company on the issue.
