There are fears that more houses than originally thought in County Sligo may be affected by pyrite and mica.
The presence of the minerals in building blocks can cause cracking as well as crumbling in what has been called 'the Weetabix effect'.
The issue has been a concern for some time in Donegal and Mayo but it's now also emerging as a problem in County Sligo.
