'Urgent' approval sought to re-open flood aid scheme for Killybegs

Outgoing Minister for Enterprise Peter Burke has said that he is seeking "urgent" Government approval to re-open the Emergency Humanitarian Flooding Scheme to help those in Killybegs impacted by Storm Bert.

The scheme provides financial support to businesses who had been unable to secure flood insurance and were impacted by flood water as a result of severe weather events.

The Irish Red Cross previously administered and made payments under the scheme on behalf of the department.

Minister Burke says he will be working across Government to assist businesses as required.
