Urgent new scheme required to tackle rent crisis

The Government’s rent policy is not working and a new system needs to be introduced, that’s according to local Sinn Fein Councillor Chris MacManus

Rents in Sligo have increased by 13% in the space of a year; the largest in the country.

The figure comes from a report released by the Residential Tenancies Board that showed nationally rents have risen by 7.5%.

Speaking to Ocean FM News, Councillor MacManus says that his party is calling for a new system were rents will rise in line with inflation.
