Vandalism at ancient tombs 'attack on our heritage'

A Fianna Fail Cllr has described vandalism at the ancient tombs at Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery as an attack on Ireland and our heritage.

A Garda investigation is continuing into the incident with Gardai describing it as a despicable act on what is essentially a graveyard.

One of the monuments at the site has been damaged by engraving letters into the stone.

Chair of the Heritage Forum and Cllr Donal Gilroy says he has never seen anything like this before:
