The victim of last week's hiking tragedy on Benbulben will be laid to rest later today.
Octavius (Ocky) Job, who was in his 40s, was a member of the Sligo Leitrim Mountain Rescue team.
Mr. Job was hiking with a friend, also an experienced climber and volunteer with the local mountain rescue team, when he fell while climbing a gully above Benbulben Forest Walk.
15 Mountain Rescue volunteers responded to the call and attended the scene, alongside two ambulances from the National Ambulance Service and members of An Garda Siochána.
The coast guard helicopter rescue was also dispatched from Strandhill in the operation, but a helicopter rescue could not be attempted due to the location and prevailing winds.
He suffered a serious head injury, and despite intensive efforts by his mountain rescue colleagues, he could not be revived.
In a statement, Sligo Leitrim Mountain Rescue says they are devastated by the loss of their friend and colleague
For almost a decade he was a dedicated member of the team coming to assist those in need.
A celebration of Ocky's Life has already taken place.
He will be laid to rest in St. Colmcille's Cemetery, Rathcormac this afternoon at 2:30pm.
