Warning about alcohol abuse as exams come to an end

The HSE is calling on the parents and friends of teenagers doing exams to talk to them about alcohol abuse.

It comes as the annual celebrations are set to begin by both junior and leaving cert students finishing their exams.

The HSE says alcohol should play no part in Junior Certificate celebrations.

Dr Bobby Smyth is a HSE consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist.

He says research has shows that children who have conversations with parents about alcohol and drugs are up to 50% less likely to use them than those who don't have such conversations.

Dr Smyth has been telling Ocean FM News of particular dangers young people face:
