A status yellow wind warning has been issued for the North West over the weekend.
It affects Sligo, Leitrim, Donegal, Clare, Galway and Mayo and begins in the early hours of Saturday.
Met Éireann says the main impact will be felt in coastal areas with wave overtopping and spray.
It says difficult travelling conditions can be expected, and is urging people to stay back, stay high and stay dry.
