Work on a long-awaited footpath in Ballymote has got the go-ahead.
Fianna Fail Councillor Keith Henry has welcomed the news that the extension of a footpath to the factories in Ballymote on the R296 will start next year.
He received the news in a response to a motion he submitted to the Municipal District meeting today.
The cost of the work is in the region of €75,000 and additional funding for new lighting is also being sought as well.
Councillor Henry says it's been an issue for locals for a number of years now:
