World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims:  Sligo motorist arrested for speeding

The equivalent of a population of a small town has been killed on Irish roads since records began.

We're being encouraged to slow down on the World Day of Remembrance for Road Victims.

Ceremonies will take place across the country to commemorate those who've died and to remind us that those left behind are often forgotten.

This afternoon, Sligo Garda Traffic Corps arrested a motorist travelling at 190km/hr in a 100km with a court appearance to follow.

Sligo Gardaí are urging motorists to slow down and be aware of their surroundings when travelling.

Chief Executive of the Road Safety Authority Moyagh Murdock says it's a day of reflection for all of those impacted by road traffic collisions:
