Worrying news for local towns contained in EPA report

Irish Water says it's failed in keeping to a schedule promised to the EPA to deliver critical wastewater infrastructure in Ireland, including a local town in Donegal.

The Environmental Protection Agency released a report showing there are 35 towns and villages in Ireland where raw sewage is released into the environment every day.

In a report on urban wastewater treatment for 2019, the agency accuses Irish Water of pushing back deadlines and of having “no clear plan” for 23 of the towns and villages including Kilcar in Donegal.

In all, 33 places are unlikely to receive treatment until an undetermined date after 2021.
