Worst of Doris passed but retailers and homes hit by electrical faults

Thousands of homes in South and East Sligo remain without power heading into the afternoon following storm Doris last night.

Almost two thousand customers are affected in the Roscommon Sligo border area around Arigna.

There are also almost 182 people still without power in Tubbercurry while over 80 homes remain without power in Gurteen.

The Carraroe Retail Park area of Sligo town is also badly affected with almost 800 people without power since half past 4 this morning.

John McKeown is the owner of Petstop Discount Warehouse there and he told Ocean FM they have been forced to close for the day.

There are also a small number of homes without power in the Ballytivnan area and the Drumshanbo area in Leitrim is also affected by power outages.

Siobhan Ryan of Met Eireann says the worst of the storm has passed.
